Daisy was choosing to work overtime at her job because there was so much to do.
She needed the extra money to handle a few things at home. First, her ex was dodging her when it came to child support which was affecting Daisy’s finances. Now that their son was going to school, there were extra expenses to cover. For one, he was joining extracurricular activities in school and these required money for kits and other items. Also, he needed school supplies and clothes which weren’t cheap. It was a bit easier when he wasn’t going to school, and things weren’t as expensive. However, times have changed, and now Daisy is realizing she needs to make more money. She works as a HVAC technician for a local HVAC business, and the gig isn’t too bad. Their boss is a generous man who pays his employees well. Plus, since they cover a wide service area, there’s always the opportunity for overtime. Before, Daisy opted not to work overtime at the HVAC business and spend more time with her son. Now she is going to do the opposite since expenses are high including heating and cooling bills. Last summer’s cooling bill was thrice the normal amount, and this put a dent on Daisy’s savings. Perhaps she’d be better off taking more overtime while her mom takes care of her son and not chasing after his dad. This is what her coworker at the HVAC business suggested when Daisy opened up about the financial struggles she has been facing. There’s work to be done for commercial and residential HVAC, and the pay is amazing.
