My mom took me to a honey farm once when I was just five years old

I have a lot of fond memories of my mother from early childhood.

  • By the time my sister started elementary school, I was still an infant.

Once I was old enough to walk, my mother took me on excursions around our local area. I’ll never forget about the first time she took me to see the ocean at the public beach. The smell of the salt immediately hit my nose, and I remember the sound of waves crashing into the beach. There were seagulls flying overhead and tiny crabs scurrying along the sand beneath my feet. As a tiny child, it was an impressive sight to behold. Since I enjoyed my time there so much, my mother continued to take me to the beach until I started school and couldn’t stay home any longer. One of the last trips she took me on was to a local honey farm that she had read about in a newspaper article several months prior. We got to sample all sorts of different kinds of honey, some with different flavors added. I learned a lot about honey bees and how honey is made. They told us about their honey bee relocation service where they take honey bee hives from peoples’ homes and yards and bring them to their honey farm where they can thrive and produce honey all the time. It was an exciting trip to say the least, and it gave me a good precursory education about bees and their monumental importance in the environment. It’s also a pleasant early memory of my mother and our fun trips together before I entered kindergarten.
