Got creative with HVAC and saved our home

It’s a bit easier now to look back on 2020 and what happened to us. We nearly lost our home due to the economic fallout from the pandemic. That is no joke. Facing losing my home was one of the tougher challenges that I have faced. Thankfully, we had a great brainstorm session that resulted in some new HVAC, a few renovations and creating some rental space. Without changing our house and adding the ductless heat pump, we would not have been able to cover the mortgage. It’s just that simple. And we skrimped and saved to get this house. We love it. And as it turns out, we also love renting some of it to our new tenant friend. The house came with a sort of long section that had been added on years ago. I think it must have been bedrooms for more kids or something. My wife and I were able to seal off that part of the house as it has its own entrance. From there, we were able to put in a bit of a galley kitchen. That part of the house had a toilette and shower already. So the only thing left to do was to get independent heating and cooling in there. We chose to go with a ductless heat pump after a bit of research. It made the most sense and appeared to be our most serious residential HVAC option available. Plus, we were able to separate that part of the house when it came to utilities as well. That new apartment with the ductless HVAC saved our home essentially.
