But when it comes to some high ticket items, it’s just sort of necessary.
This was particularly true when it came to a recent HVAC equipment situation. Really, it’s more on me than anything else. I was well aware of the age of our HVAC unit. And still, I didn’t set up a savings account to fund the HVAC equipment replacement. So when the HVAC technician let us know that this was probably the last time he’d be able to fix the HVAC unit, I didn’t have the money saved. But, I also wasn’t exactly willing to roll the dice on something like the heating and cooling comfort of my family. Thankfully, the HVAC company provided great financing terms on the new HVAC unit as I had a healthy down payment. Once we got all the details done with regard to the new residential HVAC replacement, we set up an installations date. It’s a good thing we didn’t wait until the HVAC equipment died. With the way thing are in the world right now, it took more than a month just to get the HVAC unit. But all of this came with such a great surprise. While I didn’t like having to write a check each month for the new heating and cooling equipment, I got a big break. Turns out that the new residential HVAC is so much more efficient that we are saving a ton of money on heating and cooling costs. The savings more than halved the payment I’m making each month on the new HVAC equipment.
